Life has its storms doesn’t it? I am so grateful our Lord is a nurturing God. He husbands us, caring for and providing for our needs. Jesus knows about your storm damage, and He’s looking over you right now.

Please read through these passages and use the questions as a devotional guide throughout the coming week.

Storms of Life

Read Matthew 6:25-34

  • Consider (write down) some reasons you needn’t worry based on this passage.
  • What do you think of when you read in verse 33; “…seek first his kingdom and righteousness”?
  • List some ways you personally can seek his kingdom and righteousness.
  • In verse 34, Jesus reminds us that each day comes with a forecast of storm activity. Ask Him for the faith to trust in His protection and provision for your life.

Read Matthew 7:24-27

  • According to Jesus, what must you do to be like the wise man?
  • Although you will never avoid the storms of life, list some ways you can storm-proof your life.
  • Stop and consider a time when you sensed God’s protection and supply. Thank Him.

Read Romans 8:35-39

  • During Life’s Relationship Series, we’ve expressed that relationships grow only when two people share successes and failures together. Based on verse 35, why do you think God allows us to experience storms in life?
  • Consider how storms, though unpleasant, can make a powerful and positive impact on our lives in Christ.
  • Based on this passage, please agree with me that we serve a wonderful God…

Lord, I am so grateful that you do not spare us from the storms of life. I recognize that each storm is an opportunity to trust you more and recognize your unfailing love and care. Strengthen my faith to trust you more. Cause me to put my hope in you and not in the things of this world. Help me to recognize that you don’t withhold anything we need for strength and life in you through Christ Jesus our Lord…Amen!
