Lancaster School of Ministry“Every believer is called to personal ministry right where they are. My wish is that every Christian would know how to study the Bible and minister with power into the lives of others.”

Ron Grubb, Pastor and Teacher

The goal of the Lancaster School of Ministry is to encourage believers in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and equip them as servant leaders in their homes, workplaces, communities and churches. The non-denominational curriculum emphasizes respect for the variety of churches represented by the students.

Each class follows a curriculum developed by Mark Pfeifer, President of the Soma Network of Schools and leader of the Soma Family of Ministries, of which Life Church is a member. Ron uses Mark’s outlines and research to guide the class, add his personal insight while the students share their perspectives. The result is a powerful atmosphere in the classroom.

The 2012 school year begins on January 10.  The curriculum includes:

  • Spiritual Gifts
  • Church History
  • Leadership Goals
  • Pastoral Theology
  • Ministerial Ethics
  • Church Administration
  • Cell Group Ministry
  • Bible Study Methods

The 2013 curriculum includes:

  • Teaching and Preaching
  • Biblical Counseling
  • Old Testament Survey
  • New Testament Survey
  • The Kingdom of God
  • Biblical Covenants
  • Tabernacles & Temples
  • Biblical Theology

“So many people have told me, ‘I’d love to go to Bible college, but I just don’t have time.’ Others think they can’t afford it. Some people mistakenly think they’re too old to go to school. The Lancaster School of Ministry is accessible, affordable and achievable – and it culminates with accredited degree.”

ACCESSIBLE

Classes meet for three hours every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 9:30 pm during the Winter, Spring and Fall quarters at Life Church, 5550 Lancaster-Newark Road in Pleasantville, four miles north of Lancaster on State Route 37.

“Our students want more: a few hours on Sunday morning just isn’t enough for them. They want to earnestly study the Bible and learn how to apply Scripture. Our weekly gatherings are intense, but the students leave feeling energized and empowered.”

Ron Grubb

The course load includes attendance at each class, reading assignments and two book reports per year. Students can enroll at the beginning of any quarter and will graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry when they have completed all required courses.

AFFORDABLE

Tuition is $900 per year payable in six installments. This breaks down to about $25 per week, and flexible payment plans are available. Tuition includes a study Bible, notebook and syllabus for each course and any books required for book reports. Students may also audit a class for $150 per quarter, although no credit is awarded toward graduation.

ACHIEVABLE

The same curriculum would cost thousands of dollars and take hundreds of hours at a Christian college, yet we’ve condensed this into a few hours a week for a few hundred dollars. The biggest difference, however, is that most of our students aren’t interested in working full-time at a church. The students who started the Lancaster School of Ministry last year are men in women in their twenties through their sixties; they are stay-at-home moms, business owners, landscapers, accountants and mechanics. Of course they’re expected to bless and serve their local church, but they also put their education, skills and new spiritual depth right to work in their families, careers and neighborhoods.

ACCREDITED

The two-year program is accredited by Soma Network of Schools and the Wagner Leadership Institute. Although the school is not accredited by the state of Ohio, students have used their program hours to receive continuing education credit to meet job requirements. State-accredited universities have also granted students with an entire semester worth of credits for completing the program.
